Late 19th C. (c1890) Hand cut Rummer

This glass has been constructed in three parts: An ‘Ogee’ shaped bowl has been formed and attached to a short capstan stem and a domed square foot has then been added. Extensive and heavy hand cutting has been used to decorate the bowl with four rows of cross cut diamonds with a further row of inverted fan splits. The base of the foot is star cut and polished. It is impossible to tell if this item originated in England or Ireland but it is made of high quality flint glass. The metal (glass) shows good striations to bowl and foot with an occasional small air bubble. There is an insignificant chip to one upper corner of the base.

Height: 14.4 cm. Bowl diameter: 10.2 cm at rim. Foot dimension:  +/- 7.5 cm sq
