A Victorian globe shaped scent bottle in heavy flint glass with a hinged, heavily embossed silver top containing a facetted glass stopper. The neck is cut with 8 flutes above the body which is crisply cut with alternate plain and hobnail diagonal bands between two single steps. The base is star cut and carries a freehand diamond point inscribed ‘13’ (the same number is inscribed on the stopper). Hallmarks on the neck band carry the Birmingham (anchor) symbol and date letter (a) 1900, retailers mark ‘F’ and an indistinct makers’ mark which is probably AJ Bailey. Overall height: 3 13/16th inches (9.7 cm) Diameter: 3 inches (7.6 cm) at widest point.
