Of unknown origin but possibly American, this scent bottle decorated in the Art Nouveau style dates from around 1900. The onion shaped bottle rises to a trumpet rim and is constructed of clear glass with a waisted neck and compressed globular body on a flat base with a clear moulded glass ball stopper. The body is encased with silver filigree in the form of stylised orchid flowers within concentric loops between geometric patterned bands rising to a wide silver neck collar. The silver filigree, although not marked has been tested and conforms to sterling silver standard. The base is unmarked, has been polished flat and shows scuff marks consistent with its age.
