Due to its small size and shape this dump was probably intended as a paperweight or mantle ornament. Made from green bottle glass it contains a pair of intertwined terracotta thistles with leaves which have been overlaid with white china clay. This was one of the more popular designs and a great many were produced. Condition is very good having only minor surface scratches and a single small bruise. The metal contains many bubbles of different sizes, manufacturing frit and striations from the blowing which appears to be of poor quality as the dump shape is irregular. The base has a very rough pontil scar with grinding marks, is uneven and shows wear relative to its age. Height: 3 5/16th inches (8.4 cm) Diameter: 2 inches (7.1 cm) at widest point
